What documents will I need to ship freight to Mexico?

  • BOL (Bill of Lading) – should include a description of the items being transported, a pickup and delivery address, as well as a reference number for billing purposes.
  • Commercial Invoice – this needs to include the shipping company’s full legal name, address, and country; Consignee’s full name and address; a detailed description of each item being shipped. Net and Gross weight (the weight of the freight by itself and the total weight of the loaded truck and trailer that will be hauling the freight); unit price of each item (in the payment currency); the total price of the freight being shipped; terms of delivery and terms of payment (date the freight is expected to be picked up, delivered, and when payment for the goods is expected); Date the goods are actually picked up; shipment reference numbers; any applicable licenses; freight charges. The information on the Commercial Invoice needs to match the info on the BOL.
  • You will need to know the carriers SCAC (American) or CAAT (Mexican) code.
  • Certificate of Origin – Document stating the origin of the freight. This document doesn’t need to follow a prescribed format.
  • DODA – this form is generated by the customs broker on behalf of the carrier hauling the freight in the Mexican Tax Administration Service website. The carrier will not be able to clear customs without this form.
  • Carrier will have to submit an automated cargo manifest (e-manifest) to U.S.
Customs and Border Protection prior to arriving at a U.S. border crossing.

Can I prepare my border crossing documents myself?

Yes, but we highly recommend choosing a customs broker to handle this for you. A qualified customs broker will ensure that there is proper coordination with their Mexican counterpart (or American counterpart if the shipping origin is in Mexico).

Are you a customs broker?

We do assist with customs paperwork.

Where do you ship?

We ship to all lower 48 states as well as Mexico and Canada.

Where are you located?

We have 9 terminals in North America:

  • Buckeye, AZ
  • Calexico, CA
  • Hope, AR
  • Justin, TX
  • Laredo, TX
  • Mexicali B.C., MEX
  • Nuevo Laredo, N.L., MEX
  • San Diego, CA
  • Tijuana, B.C., MEX

Do you ship small parcels?

No. We ship full truck load and less than truckload freight. Our loads typically weigh 2000 pounds or more.

Do you offer transloading services?

Yes, we can transload your freight using forklifts or cranes at our Laredo, Texas; San Deigo, California; Buckeye, Arizona, and Justin, Texas locations.

How many trucks does your company own?

We currently own more than 300 trucks and over 750 trailers of various types. We purchase new equipment annually, so these numbers increase often.

What are your payment terms?

We offer net 30 payment terms (with approved credit).

Do you provide tracking for in-transit loads?

Yes, our company-owned trucks are equipped with OmniTracs ELD systems, which allow for 24-hour live tracking, which we give our customers access to. Our third-party carriers are required to accept MacroPoint tracking, prior to being loaded. We provide our customers with tracking links in that case as well.

Are you a broker?

While we do have more than 1000 company owned assets with which to service our customers’ shipping needs, we do source third party carriers when the need arises in order to provide the requested capacity. Our customers experience no decrease in service level whether we cover their loads with company assets or third-party carriers.

How much do you charge per shipment?

Pricing takes several factors into account including: the dimensions of the freight, the allotted transit time, the trailer type required to move the load, the shipping origin and destination, special equipment needs for securing the load (for example, if a load needs to be tarped), permit requirements and costs (when applicable), or whether or not the load is hazardous.

What information do you need from me in order to give me a quote for my shipment?

We will need to know what we’re shipping (including the dimensions of the freight if possible), where we’re picking it up, where we’ll be delivering to, when you need it picked up, when you need it delivered, and any special requirements for the pickup, loading, or delivery process. Once we receive that information, you will receive a quote within the hour (if submitted between 7 am and 5 pm central standard time).

Can you leave dropped trailers at my facility?

Yes, and we’d love to. We’ve found that creating trailer pools at our customers’ locations significantly reduces transit time and makes loading much smoother on the shipping side.

Are you currently hiring drivers?

Yes, please see our jobs section for a link to our application portal.

Do you hire independent freight agents?

Absolutely. And we provide best-in-class back-office support along with a dedicated carrier sales team.
